Allergies
What happens with our bodies?
An allergy occurs when a person's immune system reacts to a substance that should be harmless.
This system works based on antibodies, which help fight off agents outside the body. In the case of allergies, the immune system can identify an allergen as harmful, even if it is not.
As soon as the substance comes into contact with the body that is allergic to it, the reaction of the immune system can cause the skin, sinuses, respiratory tract, or digestive system to become inflamed.
When you are allergic to an animal, it's because of your body's reaction to organic substances (allergens) found in skin cells, saliva, or urine of that animal.
